Hike to Mundo Hill
Exploring the highest peak in Marilog District with friends was an awesome weekend getaway. Mundo Hill is the highest mountain in Marilog located exactly in Barangay Gumitan. We departed Davao City at 1:00 PM then arrived in Marilog at 2:00 PM. From the main highway of Sitio Balite, we took the rough road going to Barangay Gumitan. It was a 4-hour hike. We reached the peak around 6:00 PM. There were some areas that you could no longer see the path due to tall grass. I haven’t brought any flashlight because I thought it’s just a 1-hour hike. lol. The final assault was a difficult one like I wanna give up but still keep on going and tsaada, we’re at peak at last!

We immediately pitched tents, roasted a chicken, socials then lights off. Woke up early to see the sunrise, however, the sunrise was blocked by some trees. After breakfast, packed lunch, break camp and left the peak. It took us 2 hours or less to descend. Felt so tired, we just hired a motorcycle to drop us to the entry point, near the bridge in Barangay Gumitan. The road was very bumpy and surprisingly, the driver just asked 20.00 pesos as a fare for each person. It was very cheap knowing the location was far and the road was very rough. We paid 50.00 each instead. I should have given him 100 but I’m on a tight budget at that time. From there, we went to Jordan Falls, near Eagle’s Ridge in Marilog District.

Hike to Jordan Falls
Almost 1-hour trek going to Jordan Falls. The trail was a bit of struggle due to mud but we successfully arrived at lunchtime. Jordan Falls looks great. A little cascading waterfall and the water was so cold. Overall, hike to Mundo Hill and Jordan Falls was a nice experience, it was a great weekend adventure and sometimes it’s great to explore the not so known place to hike like Mundo Hill and Jordan Falls.
