Who loves adventure rides? If you do, surely you will love Universal Studio in Sentosa Island. It is one of the best experience when traveling to Singapore and you should not miss it. . A lot of roller coaster rides that you can find and try, majority of the activities in Universal Studios are for all ages. Some extreme rides are not meant for younger kids. Younger kids can enjoy the 3D movie, Jurassic World, Egyptian rides – the mummy and many other fun activities.
But before that, you need to go there early because it’s a long queue getting in. You need to get ticket online so you can save time. You don’t want to spent just half day in universal studios, don’t you? Actually, you’ll need 2 days if you want to experience all of the rides and shows with no rush. So getting early will help you accomplish more rides and shows even in 1 day only.
Different Themed Park Zones
To make it easier for tourist, the Universal Studios in Singapore separate each theme by zone. Upon entering, you need to get a map to get more visibility of the activities. Time is also listed per shows , so you need to plan your rides, which one you’ll take first and be on time on the show you want to experience, so you get a good spot and enjoy the full show. Below are my recommended rides and show indicated per zone. We only booked for 1 day, so we just choose the best rides that we think it’s best.

Hollywood
Upon entering the Universal Studios, a lot of movie cartoon characters are in the streets to meet and greet the guests. We enjoyed taking photos with cartoon movie characters like Gru, in Despicable Me. There are minion figures too. That time, the Despicable movie is famous, so maybe that’s why they choose these characters.
On the Hollywood zone in Universal Studios, you can find cafes and restaurants too. Food here are expensive so be prepared with your food budget, you might get hungry so easy as multiple rides are surely tiring.

New York
The 2nd zone in Universal Studios in the New York, which covers the Sesame Street Ride and the Lights Camera Action. Out of the 2 activity here, I would recommended the Lights Camera Action, but we do this last as we want to try first the extreme rides and the popular shows. Because you need to fall in line before you can enter the rides, and mind you, it’s a long queue specially to those “a must try rides”, which I will discuss below. There is a VIP ticket in which you don’t need to get in the queue. I recommend to get VIP ticket – though it’s more pricey.
Sci-fi City
This is one of my favorite zone. A recommended ride for fearless is the Battlestar Galactica: HUMAN vs. CYLON. Both are extreme rides and younger kids are not advisable to try this. The red track is the HUMAN, a speedy roller coaster ride and the black track is the CYLON, which is a more extreme speedy roller coaster ride, that flips you upside down! So, which one you will try? If you love these kinds of rides, then you must these both. No phones are allowed in here or any loose things. Tight shoes are recommended to wear so you’ll leave the place with foot wear still on. There is a locker for rent, where you can store your stuffs when going to the ride.

Another best and recommended to try is The transformers 3D ride. The experience is awesome for kids too specially Transformers movie fans. I am a fan too as I love bumblebee. It’s a great experience, like you are in the battlefield as well, battling sides with the Autobots and Cybertrons, defeating Decepticons. You will experience being held by these robots, and encounter great heights, you’ll feel the heat and shake during the explosions and you feel the splash of water too. I suggest to try this first as it’s so popular and the queue is very long.

Ancient Egypt
The next zone is the Ancient Egypt. I recommend the Revenge of the Mummy but it’s not for faint-hearted. It’s an indoor roller coaster rides where the Mummy is after you. A thrilling adventure! At first, I really thought it’s just simple ride, like the usual horror rides you find in “perya” lol. But my bad, I forgot I am in Singapore and they offer more than just “perya” rides!
The Revenge of the Mummy is a roller coaster ride with lots of surprised launches and backwards! Inside, the place is so dark, you really can’t see anything, so you will never know which direction does the rides go. The ride suddenly become slow going up, and then next thing you know, the rides going down, then the mummy is there haunting us – literally it’s like a hell of a roller coaster ride! You can find a very long qeue in here too.

The Lost World
My favorite! Based from the movie Jurassic Park they created a superb Jurassic World. The queue is very long as the Lost World is very popular. I suggest you do this morning or early afternoon, we waited more or less 1 hour in the queue but I can assure the experience is worth it. It feels like you’re one of the cast in the movie, exploring the Jurassic World, you can see lots of dinosaurs and a thrilling adventure awaits you. I won’t discuss more of what’s inside, you need to discover it yourself. You need to wear raincoat, as you’ll get wet during the rides. Raincoat is expensive in you will buy it there but you can buy your own and bring it with you.

Water World
After we’ve done with the Jurassic World rapid rides, the next recommended attraction is the Water World. It is a complete stunt show of real actors, portraying a short story. The actors are showcasing their amazing stunts. You can see lots of explosions, water explosions, rides, and breathtaking stunts. I would recommend to try this. The Water World is a time scheduled show, think it’s around 4PM. You must take note of the time, so you won’t miss this in the Lost World zone.

Far Far Away
The land of Far Far Away is inspired by Shrek cartoon movie. I recommend this ride as well. We had a fun experience with the 4D adventure and rides in Far Far away zone. It’s a short Shrek movie show in 4D, where you can experience a closer look and feels like you are inside the movie. You can feel the seat shaking, the heat and a water mist too like in Transformer ride but this is more enhanced, because it’s 4D. This is a must try! It’s a different level of Shrek movie.

Madagascar
Remember the 3 penguins from the Madagascar movie? We’ll you can experience them via the Madagascar Crate Adventure. It’s a plain simple ride showing the cast inside. We tried this last as the Madagascar is near in the exit point.

My Universal Studios Reflection
I love rides but in terms of safety, I usually avoid local entertainment rides, specially roller coaster rides but in Universal Studios, I can assure you that the rides are strongly built, made of sturdy and thick materials. I shouldn’t compared it with local entertainment rides because those are moveable, a high chance bolt might loose. But the Universal Studios is a different level. Each rides are not an ordinary rides, it’s filled with so much fun, thrill and adventures. It’s worth the penny. I would surely come back here whenever I visit Singapore again
