Jive Highland Resort, Datu Salumay Marilog

After the tiring but fun road trip and DIY Buda tour, we headed to Jive Highland Resort in Datu Salumay, Marilog. We booked ahead to secure our accommodation. The road going to Jive Highland Resort was a little bumpy. We planned also to visit Hillsview Mountain but we were so tired dealing with the bumpy road so we just had a chilly night and enjoy the cool weather in Jive Highland Resort.

I choose Jive Highland Resort because of the numerous waterfalls and caving activity. It was late afternoon when we got there. The staffs greeted us and were very attentive to our needs. They were very friendly and so was the owner. Jive Highland Resort has a large function hall and restaurant will be open soon.

The rooms look all good. We used the Dorm Type room. They had different rooms such as the A-Type room (very unique) and whole house are available for a large number of guests.

We roamed around and the cold breeze started to make us chill. Glad that Jive Highland Resort had this bonfire area. Coffee isn’t enough to fight the cold, trust me. The signal is also very weak. A nice place to escape from the virtual world.

Early in the morning, we started to explore around and went to the waterfalls. They recommend getting a guide just to make sure the guest will be safe. A few minutes of a trek to reach the first waterfall.

Way going to waterfalls

A stairway to heaven!

You can enjoy the natural ambiance. A lot of nice plants and flowers were all around. There were also few houses available near the waterfall. The first waterfall is just a small one. The waterfall is not that very think anymore compared before. The water was also brownish due to the rain the other day. It goes back to its natural greenish color as hours passed by.

We went caving after spending few hours on the first waterfall. The caving was just a quick one. We brought kids along so it was a little bit of struggle passing through the cave. Again, a few minutes of a trek to reach the second waterfall.

The second waterfall was a higher one but also not that thick curtain compare before. Sadly, nature changed. The water is deep and was very cold. Looking at the tree roots hanging above, it was a little bit enchanting.

There are few cottages available in case you wanted to have lunch in the area. We hike again to get back to our room. It was a tiring hike going back.

Before going home to Davao City, we hit a side trip once more. We were so awesome, we still had the energy to do that. We visited Busay Resort in Brgy Datu Salumay. A small but cool waterfall also. The water was also brownish due to heavy rain the other day.

All in all, our DIY Buda Tour was amazing. Check out our sunrise and sea of clouds experience in Sonnenberg Mountain View and side trip in Bemwa Farm. Thank you for reading guys! Until next travel! ^_^
